4th of July Garland

If you have been here long, you know the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. It is everything this girl wants in a holiday. I do not have to buy and wrap gifts, there is no cooking a huge meal, and most importantly, there is no mythical creature who needs to be moved or trapped. My job is to hold a red solo cup filled with a tasty bevy and sit next to some body of water. Done, Im all in. Not to mention red, white, and blue are 100% in my color wheel. So to say I like to decorate is an understatement.

I have, over the years, collected things but have come to find that most things are the farmhouse style (not what I am looking for but thank you, Joanna Gains and Hobby Lobby). I wanted a banner that was not made of some sort of burlap and could not find any. So what’s a girl to do??? You know the answer, let’s make one! This was crazy easy. I know I say this all the time, but it really was. My wildly talented photographer, who considers herself a novice when it comes to my crafts, said “that was easy, I could do that!”. I really love how it turned out; it was just what I was looking for.

Tools:

8 Flags 8x12 size

Hole punch

Scissors

Navy cord 3 yards

2 Tassels

Coordinating ribbon in 4-5 styles

I removed the cloth flags from the wooded dowels using scissors. Cut right along the edge to get only the flag and not the white border.

I then pressed my flags, so they were nice and flat.

Using a hole punch, cut two holes in the top of the flag, about 2in and 5in apart.

Run the cord through the holes in the flags until all the flags are strung on the cord.

Knot the ends of the cord and trim the ends.

Cut the ribbon into 20in strips.

Use smaller ribbons to attach the tassel by stringing it through the ribbon and knotting it around the other ribbons to make a bundle.

Next, hang this gorgeous banner wherever you like!! I'm telling you, it's that easy.

Happy 4th Babes

XOXO
