Painted Glass Vase

I have seen these cute pained vases all over the place selling for up to $100 each, and that's just not how I want to spend my money. Clearly, I would rather blow it at Starbuck and Target! So I thought, how hard can this really be. Let me tell you; it's not hard and well worth the DIY time.

I started my search for two vases. I knew I wanted them to have a wide rim at the top. I found the first one at Ikea and a smaller one with the same shape at target.

Once I got them home, I gave them a good wash and let them dry out.

Next, I used a ruler and a dry erase marker and measured around the vase to the height I wanted the paint to go.

Once I had the vase marked, I used painter's tape and parchment paper to wrap the top half of the vase. This will create a clean line with the paint.

Now it’s time for the fun part. I set up what I call my “painting cardboard” that’s an old diaper box broken down that I constantly use to paint on outside (apparently, it’s frowned upon to spray paint indoors, so we took this show outside).

I used Rust-Oleum Satin protective enamel in white. But Girl, you are on your own journey, "you do you boo".

I let it dry overnight before I pulled off the tape. I used a small box cutter to clean up spots the paint may have seeped through the tape to get a clean line around the vase.

Next, I took my husband's truck, snuck over to my mother's alley, positioned the truck's bed just right to sneak in, and climbed up to help myself to her beautiful lilacs (thanks mom).

These beautiful lilacs are the perfect financing touch to my vases.

Cheers Babes

XOXO
