Memorial Day Table

If you have been here long, you know I'm in for all things red, white, and blue!! I get so excited to set a patriotic table, and I also love coming up with new ways to incorporate the colors. When I first started to lay-out this table, I knew I wanted to center it around this beautiful antique blue and white bowl. This was a fun way to make the table feel a little more sophisticated. I'm also setting this table inside to have a more formal feel vs. outside for a more casual BBQ feel. This table, despite looking high end is 100% budget-friendly. No, really, I'm about to blow your mind!

I had been eyeing these blue straw placemats at target for a while and knew I wanted to incorporate them into this table. I love the texture they add to the setting. I wanted to add a white charger on top of the blue to really be a strong contrast between the navy and the red of my base plate. The red plate was a fun find. I'm usually a natural plate kind of girl, but I love the scalloped edges of these plates from Walmart…yes you heard me, good old Wally World. I added the pattern napkins to break up the soil colors of the plates and tied them into my vintage bowl and candlesticks. The last little plate is a vintage Cornell I found at a thrift store. I loved the sweet little pattern.

One of my all-time favorite finds (and one I use all the time) are these goblets from the dollar store. I know no one ever believes me when I tell them, and they can not be linked, but these are similar. The goblets are also another thing to look for at thrift stores.

I added a ribbon and a paper straw with stars on it (of course) to the goblet. I love this little detail and how it ties in all the colors on the table.

For the centerpiece (Link to my centerpiece tutorial), I added 4-5 bunches of hydrangeas and two sizes of flags to keep with my theme. I love how it turned out, and it adds an elegant feel to the table.

The sweet bowl I found at an estate sale in my neighborhood. I actually did not get in on my first trip to this sale. It was marked for $25, and I felt like that was a lot (que hands on head). I knew if I went back the next day, it would be 1/2 off. I thought about it all afternoon and knew I had to have it, so I raced back, hoping it would still be there. Lucky for me, it was, and now it is one of my favorite secondhand finds. It makes me happy every time I see it, and I love finding a way to incorporate it into things.

I love mixing old with new. The thought of taking something that was once some sweet women most special treasure and giving it new life. The parties, family gatherings, and celebrations they were used for. It just makes me so darn happy. It’s also fun to find one-of-a-kind pieces. It does make it harder to share with you, but I hope it sparks an interest in pulling over to the estate sale, flea market, or thrift shop to find your own treasures.

Happy Memorial Day Babes

XOXO
