Velvet Bow Tablescape

Setting the table for the holidays gives me all the happy holiday cheer vibes. To me the things that really start to make it feel like Christmas is having my house all decorated and hosting our friends.

When I first start to set a table I like to look at what I have and how I can use it to layer into my tablescape. I like to use unexpected things such as a blanket scarf as a table cloth. Im sure most of you have been influenced by a blogger in an apple orchard holding a Starbucks, and like me are now the proud owner of one. I used this tartan plaid tablecloth from Pottery Barn as my first layer. From here Im going to add a table runner over the top. Here is where the pattern mixing comes in. I love this red and white stripe one. Because the stripes and the plaid have similar colors they complement each other.

I am then going to add my fresh greens on top of my table runner. I purchased Garland from Trader Joes and cut it to size to fit my table. Im going to weave in some more branches to fill out the rest. You can find extra greens in the floral department of the supermarket or you can go to your local Christmas tree farm and ask them for their scrap branches. They are generally happy to get rid of them for free!!! I soak my garland and branches in a bath of cold water for 24 hours before I set it out. This will help it stay fresh longer.

I love mixing old and new items in when I’m setting a table. I think the charter that comes with adding vintage items really sets your table apart. Most people when setting a table think that everything need to be the same but I love using vintage mismatched pieces on my tablesacpes. I picked up my vintage sliver at estate sales, goodwill and antique stores. I love that they are all the same tone but different shapes and sizes. It also make for a fun conversation piece with your guest. The only down side to vintage silver is that it will need to be polished every now and then. This is the silver polish I use. I don’t polish it every time I use it. I like it to have a little bit of patina to it.

I layered two chargers on top of each other to fancy up my Target-dollar-bin plaid chargers. These chargers are not the same but a great option and about the same price, these are also a good option. My silver chargers on the bottom are from Pottery Barn, and I use them all the time; I really think they dress up any table. My sweet little napkin bows are my favorite part of this table setting. Not only is it a napkin ring but it's also a place setting. I reached out to a local vendor and had her custom make these for me. They are inspired by these cute hair bows that she sells. Lastly, my crystal-inspired goblets are from the Dollar Store…..yes, you heard me right, the Dollar Store. If your aunt Lucy gets too drunk and breaks one, it no big deal!!

Ok to top off my table, I added these faux crystal, aka glass candle holders. Like my silverware, they are all mismatched finds from thrift stores, TJ Maxx, and Homegoods. I pick them up when I see one I like. A little tip to get your candles to sta…

Ok to top off my table, I added these faux crystal, aka glass candle holders. Like my silverware, they are all mismatched finds from thrift stores, TJ Maxx, and Homegoods. I pick them up when I see one I like. A little tip to get your candles to stay put or fit better in your candle holder is to use a lighter and melt the candlestick's bottom over the holder's opening for a few seconds to melt the wax. Once the wax is soft, it will mold into the holder's opening for a perfect fit.

Now our table is set and looking gorgeous. Turn on some holiday music, start a fire, and pour some bubbles. You deserve it!

Cheers Babes

XOXO
