Ok its time… We have shopped until we drop. Now we must turn into magical elves when our babes go to bed and wrap these gifts. My first tip of the wrapping process that I learned from a fellow bad ass mama is Santas gifts are not wrapped. They are proudly presented under the tree in the forefront. Yes that right, I do not wrap our gift from Santa. They will have a bow and a tag. That way it’s one less (traditionally awkard shaped) gift to wrap. Im also not having to try to hide paper so mama and Santa are not using the same stuff. Save yourself some time and throw a bow on it!!!

Another thing I do when buying gift wrap is try to buy it all in a similar color palette. If they all match or go together it will make it much easier to add bows, tags and other add ons. It’s just like having a capsule wardrobe. Staple pieces that all go together. I love Sugar paper from target. First off she’s thick!! I just love good thick paper. Nothing like trying to wrap a gift in the thin crap for you to be almost done and the box pokes a hole in it and you are trying to cover it with ribbon. I also love that they have a whole line. Its takes the guess work out of making sure it all matches. Here are a few good options. #1 #2 #3 #4. I also love using solid color paper and craft paper. If my paper is not too busy it leaves lots of room for all my ribbons and bows.

Ok on to the fun part. All the ribbon!!!! I love real ribbon. To me it just takes my gift to the next level. I buy most of my ribbon at the fabric store or on amazon. I also try to buy them all in the same color pallet so no matter what its wrapped it it will match. I buy different textures and widths to mix and match. I also use matalic twine and cream colored yarn to add texture to my gift. I pick up big bunches of yarn at the fabric store. It will last forever. Now when most people think of adding ribbon they will cross it around and tie it in a bow. Yes that lovely and will do this, but I love to mix up my patterns. I will add a thick ribbon and tape it together under the package and then add a medium size on top of that and then use the twine or yarn to wrap around and tie a bow. Because I only wrapped it around the gift once it uses less ribbon. I also like to wrap 4-6 pieces of ribbon around in a basket weave pattern. I add my ribbon to the package one at a time and weave then through and tape them to the bottom of the package.

Another fun and easy trick I use I buy a yard of linen. I will make a small cut in the width I want my ribbon to be and then I rip a strip off. This will leave me with a pretty strip of fabric I can tie in a bow or use for layering. One last easy way is to finish off a gift is take the gold twine and wrap it 4-5 times around the gift in the same direction and tie it in a bow.

Ok now we are going to top it all off with bells and whistles. No literally add a bell!! It’s so stinking cute and festive. I have bought theses and theses. I also like to add cute little bottle brush trees. I can usually find them in the dollar bin at target. Other things that are fun to add are small ornaments or initial or sprigs of greens real or fake. This is such a fun way to personalize a gift and may the recipient fell extra loved.

Last but most certainly not least you have to put a tag on it. You guys when I find good neutral tags I stock up. I still working through a bunch of hearth and hand tags I picked up a target a few years back. Now that we have mixed all of these textures and patterns I like to keep my tag simple. I like cream or off white with a little gold. I also will buy plain tags at the craft store. Easy peasy!!
