Brown Butter Pecan Cookies

I love the flavor that brown butter gives anything. I especially love it when I add it to any recipe with nuts. It does a fantastic job of enhancing the flavor profile. I’m usually not a nut in my desserts (your girl loves her some chocolate), but this buttery, nutty, sweet cooking is truly delish. And a perfect addition to any Christmas cookie lineup.

Cookie Dough:

1 Cup Chopped Pecans Plus extra for topping

2 1/4 Cups all pours flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

12 Tablespoons Softened unsalted butter.

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

1 Egg

3 teaspoons Vanilla Extract.

Brown Butter Frosting:

1/2 Cup Butter

1 teaspoon Vanilla Bean Paste

2 cups Powder sugar

Pre Heat the oven to 350

With this recipe, we are going to start by browning the butter. For this process, place the butter into a saucepan and turn it to low heat. Let the butter melt and begin to simmer. As it continues to cook, it will start to slightly brown. Let it cook until it’s a golden brown color with some dark brown bits around the bottom edges of the pan.

Place in a glass dish and let cool.

Add the butter and sugar and beat on high until light and fluffy in a mixing bowl fitted with a paddle attachment.

Add the egg and vanilla and continue to mix.

Slowly add in the dry ingredients. Until incorporated.

Lastly, add in the pecans and mix them into the dough.

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling out.

On a flat, lightly flowered surface, roll out the dough and cut into your favorite shape.

I like to pop the cut-out trayed cookies into the freezer for a few minutes before I bake them. I find it helps them hold their shape.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

While the cookies are cool, place the brown butter into a mixer and slowly add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Frost with as little or as much as you like and sprinkle top with chopped pecans.

Now try to save some frosting for the cookies; it’s that good you are going to want more than a taste.

Happy Baking

XOXO
