Sheet Pan Cleaning Hack

A post on cleaning sheet pans seems silly to even do, but it’s too good not to share. I love these little hacks so much; there is nothing better than little effort and a big return. Something that genuinely seems so simple that it's crazy we did not think of it sooner.

Most newer ovens will come with a self-cleaning mode. All that means is that the oven will get very-very hot to burn off whatever had dripped or spattered inside of your oven while using it. This is something I will generally do once a year. I will maintain in-between using self-cleaning mode with good old fashion soap, water, and elbow grease.

This task is usually on my spring cleaning to do list, once the holidays are over and my poor oven has been sent through the ringger. When i’m ready to clean my oven I will take all of my dirty sheet pans that also have drips and splatters on them and place them on the racks upside down. Then I close the oven door and turn on the self cleaning mode on my oven and let it do its thing.  This usually take 2-4 hours depending on your oven and will most likely may your house smell a little strong while its working.

With my oven, when cleaning mode is turned on, the oven door will lock. So, once you start, you are committed to it. Once it has run its course, I will usually let the pans cool down for another hour, and then pull them out. The pans will look all shiny and new, and your oven will be spotless. It’s a win-win in my book and took zero effort on my part. That's way better than spending an afternoon scrubbing.
