Salt Dough Garland

I love finding fun crafts around the holidays that the kids can be included in but are also aesthetically pleasing.  This was so easy and made the perfect gift for friends and neighbors.  I also love that this recipe creates a pretty beige color dough. It fits in prefect with any holiday decor.

Ingredients:

2 cups Flour

1 cup Water

1 cup Salt

2 teaspoon ground Ginger

2 teaspoons Cinnamon

2 teaspoons Cloves

2 teaspoons Nutmeg

10 drops essential oil (this is optional, I used Cedar wood and  Orange)

Tools:

Parchment paper

Small Star cookie cutter

Rolling pin

Tape

String

Pre heat oven to 200

In a mixing bowl fitted with a paddle attachment add all the dry ingredients and mix on low until well combined.

Add in the essential oil and continue to mix on low.

Slowly add the waster a little at a time while the mixer is still mixing until it turns into a dough. You may need a little more or a little less water.

Remove dough from the mixer and kneed on a flat surface.

Roll out the dough and cut into shapes using the cookie cutter. (iā€™m using a small star)

Place a small hole in the middle of the star to run the string through. (I use a small cocktail straw, I work in the restaurant industry so I have weird stuff around my house!)

Place the dough on a lined cookie sheet and bake for about 20 min. They will not spread so you can fit as many as you can on on sheet.

After 20 minutes flip the stars over and bake another 20 minutes.

Let the stars cool and then they are ready to be strung.

Place a small amount of tape on the end of the string to hep thread it through the stars.

Once the star is place on the string knot both side of the string to keep the star in place. repeat as many times as you would like to make the garland the length you want.

Now its time to decorate.
