Georgia’s First Birthday
My baby is one!! I'm still in shock; this year has just flown by. It's been a rough year for the world, but I was given the gift of time with my sweet baby. Knowing she would be my last, being there with her for all of her first moments, was truly a gift. Since the day she was born, our sweet girl has been smiling and is the most patient baby I have ever met. I know this is what everyone says but its truly amazing how she just fit right into our family as if she was always supposed to be there. I have been planing this first birthday party in my head pretty much from the moment I found out that the boy I thought I was having turned out to be a girl. Only a Peachy themed first birthday party for my little Georgia peach will do.
It has been so fun collecting things over the past year in preparation for her party. Even though our guest list will be small, it will not stop us from throwing a big first birthday party. I always loved the first birthday as they have changed so much in a year. We always joke the first birthday party is a celebration for the parents; we kept this tiny person alive for a whole year, all those sleepless nights, blowout, fits….. We made it yay us!!
When I plan a party, I first pick a theme or mood I want to set. Once I have I idea of what I want, my next two stops are Etsy and Amazon. As you know, I preach about saving time where you can and getting the most bang for your buck. Etsy is an amazing resource. I search for my theme and get tons of vendors with lots of darling decorations. Yes, could I make some of this stuff myself…but you have to know when to delegate and when to hire that shit out!!! Not to mention, it's good to keep everyone guessing; did she really spend countless sleepless nights crafting all these darling banners??? I am a sucker for printed invitations. First, I love the romantic gesture of getting mail (fun mail) and second, it gives your guests a preview of what to expect at your event. I love that I can find an invitation on Etsy and have it personalized to fit just what I need. With Etsy, all items have been self-made by an artisan and you can often customize just what you need. If a color is off or want something worded differently, they are willing to work with you.
Next, we are off to Amazon to add some cute decor. I will look for balloons, party plates, candy, napkins, and generic decorations to go with my Etsy finds.
Now its time to bring my vision into reality. I love setting up everything I have been collecting and seeing it all come together. Nobody wants to be a complete basket case on the day of the event; try doing as much as possible the day before. For example, I will prep my party favors, string all of my banners, prep my ballon garland, iron any linens, etc. On event day, I have learned putting my silly pride aside and accepting help is a must. I always have a friend or family member who asks if there is anything they can do to help. For the love of god and Beyonce accept it!!!! This is supposed to be fun. Once I realized "it takes a village," I began getting the help I needed, and it makes the time leading up to your event much more enjoyable. Delegate!!!
When it comes to set up, I like to set up lots of little vignettes. There should be many points of interest throughout a party. Spreading my decor between the little nooks around my venue will make cozy little corners and allow the theme to flow throughout for my guests. Always remember, spending time with family/friends and celebrating my sweet babe is the point of all of this. All the hard work is my way of showing my love by creating a fun and unforgettable experience.
Cheers Babes
