NYE Table

I went a little out of my normal comfort zone this year for my NYE tablescape. I am normally a more sparkle-sequin’s-glitter the better kind of gal. This here is her sophisticated big sister coming in hot at ya!!

I loved this idea of using an almost monochromatic/neutral color pallet for the table. I started with a tan lines tablecloth for my base. If you don’t have one, remember, use the fabric store!!! I have a flax colored piece of linen I bought many years ago that I use all the time for everything. I did not hem the edges; I just leave it raw. If that’s too much for your organized type A personality, try this lovely and timeless tan linen tablecloth (it’s ok, you do you boo). I then added this black and white stripe runner I picked up on amazon.

Also, side note, this dress you guys!! It’s from Amazon, and the fit is perfection!!

On to the place settings: My charges are dollar store and I spray painted them a matte black. On top of that, I have my pottery barn caterer’s box dishes in dinner and salad plates. I wanted my napkins to match my tablecloth, so I used these linen ones (I also used these for my thanksgiving table). Now we all know how I feel about adding some velvet ribbon to anything so I had no choice to add a 1/2in black velvet that I picked up at the fabric store. Between you and me, the ribbon should have been a little longer and were cut a little too short (do with that what you will). To add a bit more sparkle, I popped a cute little party blower onto my ribbon.

One of my favorite parts of this table was adding the black flatware. I've always wanted to try black flatware but did not have any, so I went for it. The set I used was Hearth and Hand from Target, but also looked at these.

For the centerpieces, I used old glass bottles (mostly all booze, thanks covid). I wanted all different shapes and sizes, so a few are champagne splits and ketchup bottles to mix up the size. The dollar store is another good source for glass bottles (if for some odd reason you are not going through booze as fast as I am)! I soaked the bottles in warm soapy water to remove the labels and let air dry. Then I popped my tapered candle sticks in them. They will not all go right in; you may need to trim and finesse them a bit. I added some tiered candles in two sizes to my bottles. I stock up on all my candles at Trader Joes in the fall when they come out seasonally. And there you have it. Add some bubbles, snacks, and friends, and you have yourself a party. I love this sophisticated take on NYE, now if we can just get our friends to believe we are just as classy. Happy New Year friends!!!
